The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the University of the Philippines Institute for Small-Scale Industries (UP-ISSI) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to formulate the “Strategy Roadmap for Gifts, Decors and Houseware Industry” for 2013-2030. DTI and UP-ISSI target to complete the roadmap by 15 August 2015.

The UP-ISSI facilitated the seminar entitled “GDH Gifts, Decors and Houseware Industry Situationer and Workshop” held on 07 April 2015.

The Workshop was participated in by around 40 industry stakeholders. The workshop aimed to determine the current state of the sector and the government’s plans and programs to support it. UP ISSI Director Nestor O. Raeres opened the workshop session by enjoining both private sector and government stakeholders to collaborate to achieve the targets of the sector.

The Industry Roadmapping Project (IRP) of the DTI-BOI, launched in January 2012, aims to forge strategic partnerships with industry stakeholders, particularly, the private sector for the crafting of sectoral roadmaps. The roadmaps identify the vision, goals and strategies for the short, medium, and long term growth of industries. These sectoral roadmaps are the building blocks of the Manufacturing Industry Roadmap (MIR) and the Comprehensive National Industrial Strategy (CNIS). To date, 27 sectoral roadmaps are being implemented and the rest are still for enhancement.
